ONDAMED Case Studies — Autism

PA is a 2 1/2 year old boy was diagnosed with autism at 8 months of age. He started Ondamed treatment on 1/12/06.

His symptoms included:

•    Inability to Focus
•    Grinding Teeth
•    Screaming
•    Environmental Stimulation Overload.

PA needed to be in a stroller when not in the car to be in public. His parents were unable to bring him to a restaurant because he was unable to sit still and eat and he may start screaming. PA’s sleep habits were poor and he was frequently sick (colds, flu). He received one treatment per week. The practitioner could only treat him for 20 minutes because he would not sit still or let her touch him for a long time. She was unable to use the pulse because he would not keep still. He also would not interact with anyone or have conversations. He also had a very poor vocabulary. Shortly after the 5th treatment, PA came with his father who was very emotional. He explained that PA would never go out unless he was in a stroller with an umbrella. It was the only way he felt secure. They were able to go for a walk in the park and out to lunch for the first time in PA's life. And there was absolutely no screaming and he was quite well behaved. This was a major breakthrough for PA and his family. He continued to receive Ondamed treatment once per week from Jan- June 2006. PA would have signs of detoxification after treatments that included dark stools and more bowel movements than usual, nasal mucous and slight rashes that would appear and then disappear rapidly. He took a break for the summer and resumed treatment in September once every two weeks thereafter. He has had milestones in his development as follows:

  1. Able to sleep through the night as of March 2006 and awake at 6 am (or a little later) rather than at 4 am.
  2. More positive attitude, better speech, better vocabulary as of February 2006. After 15 visits (since June 2007) he allowed the Ondamed practitioner to touch him and feel his pulse.
  3. His end of year progress report in school in June 2007 showed: 50% improvement in vocabulary, reading. He was finally able to have small conversations with teachers, parents and others. PA had received 24 treatments by June 2007. His parents met with the teachers who noticed that PA was focusing better, responding to commands, saying his letters and repeating words. The parents also heard similar comments from the bus driver who picked him up for school everyday. His improved behavior and concentration was markedly improved. In the words of his teachers, parents and practitioners, PA’s personality is now finally "coming out."

PA did not receive any Ondamed treatments in the summer of 2007 when summer vacation started. By the fall, he resumed his weekly treatments when school had started. Sleeping through the entire night was now normal for PA and his verbal communication continued to improve. He was following more commands and was communicating with his parent and others. In the spring of 2007, his mother described an incident that had happened in the kitchen. PA had entered the kitchen, tapped his mother’s leg and when she turned around to see him he exclaimed, “I love you mom!” He is now able to vocalize his thoughts.

He had not taken any medications for autism. PA has also been following a gluten and dairy free diet for some time. He continues to improve with Ondamed treatments. His 6-year old brother who was diagnosed with Aspergers disorder sometimes accompanies PA for his Ondamed treatments and receives a treatment as well. He is also experiencing improvements in his condition.  Practitioner: Lori Devine  (Case Study conducted by Dr. Shari Lieberman)

TR is a 13-year old boy diagnosed with high level autism on February 1994 when he was 2 yrs and 10 months old.

He also suffered from gastrointestinal problems including alternating diarrhea and constipation, and occasional vomiting and stomach cramps. He was unable to tolerate hamburger, French fries and ice cream and was diagnosed with a gluten sensitivity by his physician. His parents found that he improved with a gluten and dairy restricted diet. However, it was becoming increasingly difficult for the boy to feel comfortable when he was with his friends since he was unable to have any of the things that they would consume. He started ONDAMED treatment in April 2005 and received two treatments per week for 4 months. By the end of the 4th month he was able to tolerate all foods without having any diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, stomach cramps or any other gastrointestinal symptoms. His parents continue to keep him on a restricted diet since it dramatically improved his functioning. However, he is able to cheat occasionally with the restricted foods without any serious symptoms. The parents moved and the child has not received any further ONDAMED treatments. They keep in touch with the ONDAMED practitioner and TR is still able to eat the restricted foods (which he does occasionally) without any gastrointestinal upset.     (Case Study conducted by Dr. Shari Lieberman)
